Weekly GoAL COMPLETE

After my first week of pushing social media, it’s hard to feel satisfied but also wrong to feel like I haven’t accomplished anything. Directing most of my efforts into Facebook and Instagram, I joined some groups, found local artists and some local outlets connected to comics.


I was concentrating on keeping a posting schedule and trying to plan it to be manageable enough to accomplish every week. I did post a few more sketches than I would have liked but my week was very much a script writing and thumbnail sketching week.


On Instagram I’ve gained a few followers, but comparing them to the number of accounts reached is disappointing. I also have less likes per post than usual, but I am posting a lot more than I usually do as well. Next week I will be starting some larger drawings and preparing some canvas for painting, so I am curious if I see any difference in interaction.


I am hoping that if the art quality in my posts is better it might help gain more followers or at least reach a broader audience. In some way I think that the small number of viewers I have on Instagram are mostly connected to streamers from twitch. Some of which I am on friendly terms with, along with others that have not shown any love from the beginning and almost acting a group denying entry by looking the other way.

Bazzajaun Dire Not a lot can be shared about old Bazzajaun Dire, or “Bazz”. He is a forgetful creature who spends his nights foraging for food in the forest and scavenging the remains of the unlucky down in the Gobalus Burrows. His nature is unpredictable. His intentions can never be certain. But an encounter with Bazz will likely be the start of a strange adventure! Or at least an interesting chance to trade supplies! However, those travelling alongside him should make sure to watch their backs! His skill with the double blade is unmatched! Papa’s coffee 36 #CozyViews I don’t know how many time the cats, or my kids have stopped me from being creative. This past weekend was one of the most frustrating times its happened. My family was away, leaving me alone to complete a few projects that had been haunting me for a long time. To cut a long story short, one of the cats fell out of a window or from the balcony and disappeared afterwards. I spent most of the day drawing and checking for the cat in the garden or across the main street every hour or so. Once again majorly #distracted. Which happens a lot lately! I found him about 12 hours later freaked out and sneaking around under a place I had checked a dozen times. Happy I found him, still annoyed at most of the things he does to distract me... Although I haven’t really watched it for years, and what used to be one 4-hour event has now turned into a two-day WrestleMania weekend, I did sit down and watch some wrestling with my kids. It was funny to watch it with someone young enough to believe in the realism of it and be entertained by the theatrics one eventually gets old enough to see through. That is one of the joys of having kids though. Being able to see life through someone else’s eyes and enjoy some of the things that can slowly become ridiculous the older we get. Not a designer, artist/twitch streamer, or whatever else I can be categorized as. Just the Papa! My wife and kids laughing at my amazing dad jokes while I unwrapped handmade gifts. Eating way too much before playing a family split screen session of crash team racing. It didn’t just make for a great birthday, but a wonderful life moment. One of those moments that give a sense of clarity. The feeling of being in the right place at the right time. Amongst the hope, dreams and aspirations, I think those moments can be rare in life. Hi, Just a quick update on what has been floating around on the #drawing board. We had a good drawing session over the weekend. Had some great company over on #twitch for an 8-hour #stream including a few internet disruptions and managed to get the first page of issue 2 finished. It was a great start for the month and an exciting time for me as it means the #comic art for issue 2 is underway!!! No turning back!! #thankyouforyoursupport this week everyone!!

My Grunge wizard concept sketch #3 (timelapse) I've been slowly worrking on giving this guy a personality, while developing his clothing. He now has a name, his look is pretty much done. (I might play around with the syle of the hat/beanie). I did start off with a pointy had, but changed my mind very quickly. I ended up playing around and making some background music for this timelapse. Was fun to mix n match with some beats and loops. It did take a bit longer than I wanted so also posted a day later than I wanted to. I've been playing around with different ways to portray a wizard, or wizards. At this point I only really need to design one wizard, but I also want to keep an open mind if he would be part of a guild or clan. Perhaps after a right of passage all wizards have some kind of clothing in common. Sketching this guy out did open the floodgates of ideas though. Some ideas are worth noting down for the future, others will probably make me just do creative circles lol. One problem I have is that a lot of characters have an undecided ending. A lot of what I have written or alrerady planned is more about origins, so when I get an idea, I can see a conclusion for certain characters. For example, this wizard is just a side character that we see briefly, but I feel I can explain a while lot about someone else be designing his outfit right. This was unexpected and led me to be designing him rather than how the house looks where he lives, which I thought was more important. I am trying to avoid a typical wizards hat. As , much as I feel it might complete an outfit, I want to avoid a Gandalf vibe, or dumbledore. I might try one sketch with the hat, just too see. I spent a good portion of last month trying to get some progress done on this mighty picture. I'm happy to have the initial layout and sketch done for this and going to rest up and contemplate the best way to go about inking, or painting the final stages of the artwork. Facebook on the other hand, what little steps I made felt like progress. Probably because I have never really interacted on Facebook in the past, and everything seems so fresh and new. 


My Facebook art piece titled: The Facebook! Original I know... Finally has a clear direction, so I can carry on with that too. I decided that I would write the name and initials of the first 100 followers of the Facebook page on the pages of, um the facebook. Now the follower total is 62, so comparing that to 22 from last week is the positive vibe I am hanging onto going into next week.
