Weekly GoAL COMPLETE

After my first week of pushing social media, it’s hard to feel satisfied but also wrong to feel like I haven’t accomplished anything. Directing most of my efforts into Facebook and Instagram, I joined some groups, found local artists and some local outlets connected to comics.


I was concentrating on keeping a posting schedule and trying to plan it to be manageable enough to accomplish every week. I did post a few more sketches than I would have liked but my week was very much a script writing and thumbnail sketching week.


On Instagram I’ve gained a few followers, but comparing them to the number of accounts reached is disappointing. I also have less likes per post than usual, but I am posting a lot more than I usually do as well. Next week I will be starting some larger drawings and preparing some canvas for painting, so I am curious if I see any difference in interaction.


I am hoping that if the art quality in my posts is better it might help gain more followers or at least reach a broader audience. In some way I think that the small number of viewers I have on Instagram are mostly connected to streamers from twitch. Some of which I am on friendly terms with, along with others that have not shown any love from the beginning and almost acting a group denying entry by looking the other way.

My son's birthday has slowly come to an end, the last Lego figure (a war machine robot) was put together, and I decided to go for a run. Running has become easier lately, although I wouldn't go around bragging about my speed. The sky had been wanting to rain for most of the evening, releasing a few drops here and there. It wasn't much but enough to bring some things inside from the balcony to be safe. While running I thought about life, the insanity of the world we live in and how the future may end up. It wasn't a sad moment, I guess it was just a chance for my mind to wander with me. Then it started to rain. The wind picked up and I began to worry about my phone getting wet , it kind of reminded me of the Witcher 3. And how the wind seems to be forever blowing through the long grass and trees. I was going to draw a bit before sleeping, but I guess the happiness of a child enjoying his birthday was enough to feel complete for the day. A bit of sport and exercise should do the trick! These sketches are of Javanicus, a rough and tough pirate god? That was very hard not to be inspired by Jack Sparrow lol. Basketball got cancelled tonight. So I was doing stretches and contemplating going for a run. Ended up taking a photo of my hat . Why? Because I did very little art today, so I have nothing to show. Well I did sketch out the cover for issue 2, but got stuck writing in one of the scenes on page 14. It's weird that one day I can plan 10 pages, then another day I struggle to do 2. Maybe it's because page 14 is the middle of the book and where the story starts to resolve what was previously built up. I believe I got the story in a good place and will carry on a little more tonight, after a run... A 60cm x 40cm Stretched canvas so I can get started on the cover for ABROKENSLEEP Issue #2, a really thin brush (for inking) that I seem to have already misplaced, a 14B Graphite pencil to replace the one I misplaced a while ago... I also finally got around to buying an electric eraser!! Looking forward to trying that out. I went to the local comic store and got some comic bags, so I can keep those printed comic fresh! Finally got my hands on the test prints of the comic first issue. It Was great to feel the paper weight and see how the art looked on paper instead of the screen. Really feels like a weight from my shoulders getting this far. Flicking through the pages I noticed all the design elements and characters I had to build from scratch while designing the feel of this book and future issues. The template is there, and I'm really looking forward to playing around with what comes next!! Lately I've been so focused, I feel my creativity is just me introvertedly thinking with a pen, paper and keyboard. Not really for anyone else to see, more like a puzzle I've been trying to solve for what seems like forever. My first attempt at a comic script is in it's 4th (and final) revision, the page layouts are done and about ready for me to start the final art work for it. Facebook on the other hand, what little steps I made felt like progress. Probably because I have never really interacted on Facebook in the past, and everything seems so fresh and new. 


My Facebook art piece titled: The Facebook! Original I know... Finally has a clear direction, so I can carry on with that too. I decided that I would write the name and initials of the first 100 followers of the Facebook page on the pages of, um the facebook. Now the follower total is 62, so comparing that to 22 from last week is the positive vibe I am hanging onto going into next week.
