WHO AM I?
My name is Stephen,
I was born in Melbourne, Australia but moved to Christchurch, New Zealand as a young teenager. I am of Māori decent, although you wouldn’t believe it when you see how pale I get in winter lol, also having Scottish heritage.
I studied Graphic design and multimedia years ago, freelancing my way through life before meeting a wonderful woman who very easily persuaded me to move to Germany.
Fast forward through 16 years of marriage, two young kids and a couple of cats. I am living in Germany finally trying to accomplish my creative dreams and self-publish a comic series while navigating the weirdness of twitch and social media, doing my best to keep my family safe, happy and healthy during the weird times we live in.
HOW DID WE GET HERE?
The goal is to create and self-publish comics while drawing cool pictures of the characters and environments that live within it.
Inspired by titles such as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Crow, Spawn or Dragon Ball Z and influenced by artists such as Jim Lee, Murray Ball, Greg Capullo, Akira Toriyama and Todd McFarlane the art is Intended to be as unique as possible.
Applying methods learned as a Graphic designer and freelance illustrator I develop and refine my own heavy black and white cartoony style, with a European influence having lived in Germany for well over a decade.
I’ve used a mix of traditional and digital methods while learning to draw, but over the last few years during the rise of A.I, I have slowly tried to incorporate pen, pencil, paper and traditional methods a lot more.
WHAT TO EXPECT?
This website, the stories and characters involved is an addictive passion project as I look to grow as an illustrator and experiment with sequential art forms, ink tones and mesh techniques as well as storytelling methods.
